Maria Parrini

Maria Parrini, 19, began her piano studies at the age of three with her parents, Sherry and Fabio Parrini, and is now a third-year undergraduate student of Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Paul Schenly at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Ms. Parrini is a native of Greenville, South Carolina, and attended the Greenville Fine Arts Center for her pre-college education, where she studied chamber music, music theory, music history, and jazz. At the Fine Arts Center, she also formed the Chanté Piano Trio in 2013, which was awarded first prize at the WDAV 89.9 Young Chamber Musicians Competition at Davidson College, and featured in their own segment on NC and SC public radio. Notable accomplishments include first prize in the 2016 CIM Milhaud Society Performance Competition, second and third prizes at the 2016 and 2015 Thousand Islands International Piano Competition, respectively, second prize at the 2014 MTNA National Senior Piano Competition, first prize in the 2012 Brevard Music Center Concerto Competition, and a discretionary award in the 2014 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition. She has performed concerti of Brahms, Prokofiev, and Schumann under the batons of David Stewart Wiley, Alex Spainhour, and Gary Robinson, among others; she also collaborated in 2014 with her father Fabio and the Clemson University Symphony Orchestra in performances of Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos. She is also an enthusiastic collaborator, and intends to cultivate a career as an active soloist, teacher and chamber musician. In her free time, Ms. Parrini enjoys traveling, hiking, and very strong coffee.
